Giving Back

Our grandparents came to this country with nothing, but they instilled core values into their children who in turn taught their children (us). One of those values was the importance of giving back to your community, either on a local or global level. That is why at Sammi Jo we have a give-back program. Every month we will be donating a portion of our proceeds to a non-profit organization that we are passionate about.  We’d love to consider the organizations that you’re passionate about too.

August – our chosen charity is One2GiveTo! They help support various homeless shelters in need around Toronto. This month we are helping them support the youth in shelters who are heading back to school. We will be donating masks and clothing to help give these young learners a fresh and comfortable start to the school year.

July – our chosen charity is Ve’ahavta. An incredible organization that helps and works with the homeless community in Toronto. This summer has already been a scorcher and coupled with Covid-19 and the need to keep a distance, it’s almost impossible for the homeless community to stay safe. They are constantly in need of necessities such as food, water, sun protection, hygiene products, feminine products, pain relief, clothing. We hope that with your help, we can help make a difference.

For our inaugural month, we will be donating to campaigns and organizations that support our Black Community.

We have chosen the Black Youth Hotline to donate 10% of our net proceeds from our first month.

I am a lawyer and I used to practice criminal defence. I loved helping youths because there was always a reason for how or why a young person ended up in the system and therefore a way to get them out if they wanted it. This youth hotline is such a vital system for young people, especially people of colour who are unfairly treated in the criminal justice system, yes even in Toronto.

The proceeds of our Pride Flag T-shirts will be donated to Rainbow Railroad.
